Virgin of Rome - First Part

A Brief History of These Apparitions

It is difficult to recount, in only a few words, the history of the apparitions of Jesus and Our Lady to Marisa; apparitions which I have both participated in and witnessed since 1971 and which are continuing today.
Though there were apparitions prior to 1971, I wish to speak here only of those encompassing the twenty-two years during which I have followed them very closely as Marisa's spiritual director.
This long period (1971 - 1993) is subdivided into two parts. The first is from 1971 to 1986 and the second is from 1986 until June of 1993.
During the first period, very few people came to know of these apparitions and only I always participated in them. First, to ascertain their supernatural origin, I had to study them; to sift them, if you will, and submit them to diligent examination. I had to make of myself someone competent to counsel, to instruct, and to guide because, at the beginning of these supernatural experiences, I was very young and inexperienced.
I examined the messages and, in comparing them, I found nothing that contradicted Sacred Scripture. I always remembered the words of Saint Paul: "For even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel not in accord with the one we delivered to you, let a curse be upon him!". (Galatians 1,8).
I found confirmation that the messages were from God by seeing how those who received the messages were able to reap spiritual fruit in their every day lives. The Word of God enlightens about this point: "The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, self-control" (Galatians 5,22).
I found in the messages sincere love for the Church, respect for the ecclesiastical hierarchy and complete docility to the Magisterium. There is in them, also, an immense love, often anguished, but always respectful for priests, who are referred to as "favoured sons". Although I recalled very well the words of Jesus, "A perverse and adulterous generation seeks a sign" (Matthew 12,39), I asked for and received signs and prodigies that made me comfortable in ascribing supernatural origin to these apparitions.
Finally I sensed returning to me the words of Gamaliel, and I think we must always remember them: "If these activities are of human origin, they will destroy themselves. But if they come from God you will not be able to destroy them without finding yourself fighting God himself (Acts 5, 38-39).
The first period was the best for us, and we recall it more willingly, because we lived these supernatural experiences with which we were preoccupied without having to undergo people criticism, curiosity, diffidence, or hostility.
Our Lady urged us with love and patience to make the most of this opportune time, although her reproofs she called "motherly reminders".
She had entrusted us, in these years of the mission with such delicate matters as to impose on us a duty of discretion and silence. Sometimes the work was not understood, not accepted and it gave fruits which not everybody was successful in reaping.
These same ones were still in the dark as to the supernatural nature of these experiences, probably because they were questioning. Perhaps because they saw in us sincerity and lack of self-interest, they had remained silent and learned to listen.
Now it is possible to give all of them the answers they desired, but first of all I wish to thank them because they never failed in their prudent attention, respect, and silence with respect to us. We all must keep in mind the words of Sacred Scripture " A time to keep silent and a time to speak" ( Ecclesiastes 3,7 ).
From 1986 to September of this year (1993) the apparitions were known amongst a group of people called by Our Lady to form a cenacle of prayer and formation. Not everybody, predictably, has responded to the call; some, for their own reasons, left and the parable of those invited to the wedding banquet of the King's son was repeated.
The first period was not lacking in suffering, but the second period brought more intense suffering from many sources: incomprehension, invidiousness, jealousy, calumny, and fear of the supernatural. At times we chose to be silent, at times we were constrained to defend ourselves, frequently we were in the midst of situations and struggling not to succumb. Discouragement, bitterness, disappointment and dejection accompanied us and we would long to be sent a sense of overpowering strength.
What saved us from shipwreck was the grace of God, always echoing through our hearts the words of the Lord to Paul: "My grace is enough for you" (2 Corinthians 12,9 ).
We were also helped to survive shipwreck by the brothers and sisters of our cenacle who were firm in turning to us with love and faith. We can repeat to the members of our community what St. Paul said to the Philippians: "Thanks to your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ in nothing shall I be put to shame" (Philippians 1, 19-20 ).
To these brothers and sisters, in October 1988, Our Lady had given God's messages, as she always says "to take you by the hand, slowly slowly toward sanctity" (Mess. Oct. 1988).
The messages Our Lady called "The Catechism of God the Father" were finished on the 4th of September 1993, but she, the Mother of the Eucharist, continued to come.
When the catechism messages were finished, Our Lady would still come, sometimes to pray with us, to grant the graces that God willed and to give particular or personal messages. In September of this year began the third period of these apparitions (1993).
After twenty-two years of hiddeness and silence the time God has wanted these apparitions to be opened to everybody, understood by all resulted from the message of June 20th, 1993.
When we received this message we were stricken by fear and consternation. We felt alone, weak, defenceless and we had an agonizing question: "How would it be possible to sustain the blow and the weight that public apparitions would comprise?". Still in time, the Word of God had infused us with peace and security: "The Spirit comes to help our weakness" (Romans 8,26). "When I am weak, it is then that I am strong" (2 Corinthians 12,10). Jesus and Our Lady have helped us to abandon ourselves to God and have invited us to say: "Let it be as God wills" (Mess. of 11 July 1993). The members of the cenacle responded with prayers, sacrifices, and fasting. She offered help and invited them to consider that "she will help us and be very close to us" (Mess. of June 27th, 1993). Nor was the the great suffering we would encounter hidden from us; "The suffering will consume them" said Our Lady in the message of the 27th of June 1993. We were comforted by the words of Jesus in the message of the 11th of July 1993 " It is My will to come to confirm to you that my Mother and I desire to guide you in a beautiful and important mission that God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and I, God the Son have entrusted to you, and to repeat to you that We stand always near you and to give you courage".
The first task that confronts us is how to disseminate the messages of God, the catechism of God, as transmitted by Our Lady to us. This task will be followed by others which we wish to carry forward with serenity, simplicity and love. We ask that you support us with your prayers, offers of collaboration and by pardoning us for our limitations.
The Eucharistic Jesus is "the centre of the Christian community" (Presb. ord.) and the Mother of the Eucharist helps us to understand that " the Holy Eucharist contains all the spiritual goods of the Church" (Presb. ord.).
Our desire is that "after having done all that we were commanded we should say: We are useless servants. We have done no more than our duty" (Luke 17,10).

When the Pope John Paul II was in Fulda, during his visit to Germany (from 15th to 19th November 1980) he was asked some questions by a group of people: one question was about the 3rd secret of Fatima and another one about the "near future" of the Church. One of the people present documented the exchange. Names of witnesses are at the editorial office of the magazine "Vox fidei". Below is reported the part of the text from two questions, published (in Italian) in that magazine (issue #10 - 1981).
Question: "What about the third secret of Fatima? It already should have been published in 1960".
Answer (of the Holy Father): "Due to its shocking content and so as not to allow the global power of communism to interfere with the affairs of the Church, my predecessors gave confidential information in a diplomatic way. In addition, it should be enough for every Christian to know what follows: when you read that oceans will flood whole continents, that millions of men will die very suddenly in a few minutes... if this is known, it isn't really necessary to claim the publication of this secret... Many people want to know it just for curiosity and sensationalism: but they forget that "knowing" involves also responsibility... but they just want to satisfy their own curiosity. This is dangerous when at the same time, they don't want to do anything, saying: "It is useless to do anything to improve the situation!". Then the Pope took the Rosary and said: "Here is the medicine against this illness! Pray, pray and don't question further. Recommend all the rest to Our Lady!".
Question: "How will things go with the Church?".
Answer (of the Holy Father): "We must be ready to face great imminent trials, which could also require the sacrifice of our life for Christ... The trials could be reduced through your and our prayers, but they can't be (anymore) avoided, because a true renewal of the Church can take place only this way... just as it has already occurred many times that the Church rose up again through blood. It won't be different either this time. Let's be strong and let's get ready, having faith in Christ and in his Mother. Let's pray much and often the Holy Rosary".

Frequently Asked Questions
 
Q) What has caused the Eucharist to be disallowed in the chapel of Via delle Benedettine?
A) The official reason indicated in a letter by Cardinale Ruini (protocol# 144/1995) for the removal of the Eucharist from the private tabernacle in Via delle Benedettine, is just the "praxis" without any disciplinary cause. Don Claudio Gatti can celebrate the Mass every day but only outside that place. He absolutely hasn' t received any condemnation by the Vicariate. However, God knows the real reasons of that decision and the text of messages is meaningful on this regard (6/26/97 and 2/1/98 messages of Jesus).
Q) Why are these apparitions the most important and most troubled?
Is it because of the opposition they are facing and will face?
A) These apparitions are the most important because they are centred on the Eucharist, which is the heart of our Catholic faith. Our Lady comes as "The Mother of the Eucharist", to defend the Eucharist and to announce His triumph. Nowadays the Eucharist is not much loved. This is in my opinion the main reason of the present opposition to these events occurring in Rome in Via delle Benedettine. On the other hand you have to remember that the great Our Lady' s apparitions, in Lourdes and Fatima, were much troubled.
Q) What has caused Rome to conduct an inquiry and how is it proceeding?
When will these events eventually receive an official approval?
A) The Vicariate has rightly constituted a Commission of Enquiry because the events are very important. Not only the visionary Marisa Rossi receives messages from Our Lady and sometimes from Jesus, but currently, in the presence of many witnesses, many times the Eucharist has suddenly appeared between Marisa' s hands. In fact, as explained by Our Lady in her messages to Marisa, during the apparition Marisa receives the communion from Our Lady and when God wants, the Holy Host that Our Lady gives Marisa between her hands, suddenly becomes visible to everybody: in that moment we receive a great gift, because Jesus is really present as Eucharist between us.
The Commission of Enquiry has emitted no official statement yet and the absolute silence has been chosen by them. A definitive decision about the supernatural origin of these events will be probably taken only in a very long time, after Marisa Rossi' s death.
Q) How do you personally feel about these apparitions and others that are occurring now?
A) This question is for me the most interesting. In the present time in Italy, almost in every Italian region, you can find a visionary, but as you know also in other parts of Europe and all over the world. What does it mean? It' s my personal opinion, as predicted in Fatima, that God is giving us the occasion for converting ourselves. Mankind should expect in one or two years some troubled events. But, it' s only my opinion. Anyway, we have to consider that the announcement by Our Lady about Eucharist' s triumph is good. It will completely happen not much late, but not immediately.
Q) In the message of 31st December 1995 Our Lady said: " God could become tired of mankind ". What does it mean, considering that in the Gospel is reported that God will never abandon the men?
A) Don Claudio Gatti replies: " It is necessary to point out that the above sentence is already found in the Bible and it certainly doesn't mean that God could become tired just like a man. GOD WANTS TO REMEMBER TO HIS SONS THEIR OWN RESPONSIBILITIES. But God is at the same time MERCY AND JUSTICE. Now we are still living in a period of mercy and the proofs are the various apparitions of Our Lady all over the world and of course Her messages. But if men don' t convert themselves it is quite possible that in a short time, something could happen so that everybody will suffer much ".
Q) Where are the Hosts coming from that Marisa receives? This is the same question that came up in Garabandal in the early 1960's, when the visionary received the Eucharist.
A) In the message of May 12th 1996, Our Lady has said: "...I don' t consecrate the Eucharist, I only take It away from the tabernacle and I bring It to your sister. Are there maybe people who want to forbid Me to do this or to take the Eucharist away and to bring It to your sister? ....".
Q) What is a "black mass"?
A) A "black mass" is a "satanic mass" celebrated by members of satanic sets and unfortunately by priests too. Sometimes during black masses, consecrated Hosts, taken away from Tabernacles are profaned, that is, They are stabbed, crushed or smashed by feet or something worse is done with Them. Sometimes Our Lady gave Marisa profaned Hosts, in fact They were not white and round, but They were dirty and misshaped (i.e. see photo of Easter 1996 Eucharistic miracle).
Q) What does "thaumaturgical" mean?
A) When Our Lady says that the place of these apparitions is "thaumaturgical", it means that it is healing for physical and spiritual illness. For example the water of Lourdes grotto is thaumaturgical.

A message of God sent to all the world Heads of State
 

On 12th February 1998, Jesus said: "...I am suffering very much because man doesn't convert his heart, but God the Father has decided to give a very great task to your sister: she must write a letter to all the world Heads of State...".
Two days later the letter, including a message of God to achieve peace in the world, was sent through the embassies of about 130 States in Rome and also to the Secretary General of U.N.O., Mr. Kofi Annan. The letter and the message of God are reported below.


Mr. President / Your Majesty,
God's message reaches you through a humble and simple creature: Marisa Rossi.
God entrusted to her the task of writing to all the Heads of State, so that they stop killing man and making war.
Listen to your heart, you will listen to God's voice there.
Marisa's credentials are: love, prayer, suffering and immolation. She is a lamp burning before God and ceaseless interceding to achieve the gift of peace.
Mr. President / Your Majesty, peace in your country and in the world also depends on you.

Message of God
Rome, 14th February 1998 - h.2:00 p.m.
Dear President / Dear King / Dear Queen,
you are a man created by God and, if you don't believe Him, at least you should admit that you were created by a Being Who is Superior to any creature in the world.
I, Man and God, Who created the Universe, who love you and love all the creatures in the world, I ask you: don't kill your brother, whoever he is, whatever his name, whichever his race or religion, whichever the colour of his skin.
Don't kill, observe the Fifth Commandment, learn how to love and respect, especially women, children, poor men and sick people.
Man, a living creature, is loved by a Being Who is Superior to everybody.
Don't kill neither with the sword, nor with words which can come out of your mouth.
What is this killing, what is this making war? Is it only so that you can say: "I won, I earned"?
Head of your nation, what is your joy and satisfaction? Are you persuaded of loving your people and other people, each time you kill?
If you are sure you love, don't kill. "LOVE".
Each man is your brother, he is the same as you, he was created like you, he just hasn't leadership and many times he is poor and weak.
The Supreme Being, God, will demand you an explanation of what you did to your brother.
God, the Supreme Being, is love and not hate.
Stop war anyway and love your brothers.

Letter addressed by Don Claudio Gatti on 24th October 1998 to all the priests of Rome through the heads of all the prefectures of the Diocese.


To the priests of Rome.
Copy to all the priests of the Church: One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic, Roman.
Dear brothers in Christ and brothers in priesthood,
Jesus said that my well-known letter, addressed to the catholic clergy of all the Church, was rejected and destroyed only by a few priests who accused me of being a proud instigator. On the contrary, many priests, though they are behaving like Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea for fear of committing themselves, are keeping the letter "just like a relic...".
Many times the Lord revealed also that many of you believe in the supernatural origin of the Marian apparitions and of the Eucharistic miracles, but since you fear that if you show you accept them, you may lose your chairmanship and power, you behave just as if you don't believe them.
During a meeting with Monsignor Nosiglia I said: "We know many more things than you can imagine" and this not for boasting, but because we want to help those who would like to change their attitude about God's great interventions in the thaumaturgical place.
The Lord reveals to us just what we should know, to give us the chance to defend ourselves from the attacks prepared in furtive gatherings and to resist the persecution which has been organized by some people of high rank in the Church who never appear, but above all to allow us to live with serenity and confidence that moment in which the Church will be upset by fratricidal fights. Finally, through the triumph of the Eucharist the Church will be renewed and restored to a wonderful beauty and an incomparable strength, because the Great Sacrament of love and union will produce such a powerful action that first it will reunite the separated Christian Churches with the Catholic Church and then will allow all the other religions to be united with the one and true religion, the Catholic one.
The third Millennium, which will be intensely Eucharistic, is about to open: man can't destroy God's plans even if sometimes he has the presumption of being able to do so.
Jesus affirmed that the ecclesiastical authority:
a) tried to put me against Him and to outrage my conscience, but without achieving their goal;
b) blackmailed me, 1) because they threatened the suspension from the exercise of sacred functions, when they ordered me not to adore anymore the Eucharist, brought by Jesus, by Our Lady, by the Angels and the Saints, without previously having made any serious examinations of the supernatural events and without having interrogated, in observance of the Gospel and the Canon Law, either me or the visionary, nor the hundreds of witnesses of the several great Eucharistic miracles; 2) because they ordered me, as a condition of having again the exercise of sacred functions, to acknowledge that I was mistaken and that I deceived people who came to pray into the thaumaturgical place.
Miracles are "signs" of Christ's divinity and the Lord performed many of them in the thaumaturgical place, which I described to you in detail in my previous letter.
Moreover, when I brought to the Vicariate the Eucharist Which bled, Monsignor Nosiglia, making a puzzled and annoyed gesture, told me: "What's that piece of bread?" and he refused to keep It and let It be examined.
c) They abused their power in our regards, 1) when they took away, without any reason, the permission given to me by Cardinal Poletti, of celebrating the Holy Mass and of keeping the Eucharist in our chapel; 2) when they first forbade people to come and pray in the thaumaturgical place and to attend the biblical catechesis, then, after insistent requests, they only allowed fifty people to come here; therefore I should have sent away everybody after the fiftieth person; 3) when they ordered me not to preach during the spiritual retreats to the young people and to the grown-ups of the Movimento Impegno e Testimonianza in our seat, which has proper rooms and a silent garden, so we were obliged to ask for hospitality in religious institutions, where we often had to pay for the use of rooms; 4) when they forbade me to celebrate, once a week, in "Casa St. Gaetano", Holy Mass for the participants of the biblical catechesis, though the Sisters of that house had given their consent. In the name of the Vicariate, the manager of that house referred to me: "Father Claudio, you can celebrate all alone, but not with the members of the Movimento"; 5) when they hindered people anyway coming and praying in the Via delle Benedettine, causing slanders and discord against us. You too received precise orders in these terms, in writing and in voice; 6) when they forbade us to give interviews and to receive journalists, while Jesus many times repeated: "Why should God's great actions pass over in silence?"; 7) when, though they hadn't any data on which their opinion was based, they asked the head of the "Apparition List" on the Internet, not to spread the messages of the Mother of the Eucharist; 8) when they didn't prevent some broadcasts, which call themselves "catholic", from throwing mud at me and Marisa, at the most important apparitions and at the greatest Eucharistic miracles in all the history of the Church; 9) when they passed on us the following judgements, which are against truth and charity: "The devil brings the hosts. The apparitions of the hosts are tricks of the fair or they are the fruit of religious pathology. Everything is only the greatest lie. They perform conjuring tricks. They split the Church. The presumed messages of the Mother of the Eucharist are rubbish". I have quoted only those judgements referred by the ecclesiastical authority to the press or to the members of the Movimento, I am silent on those judgements which are not quotable and which were pronounced many times in furtive gatherings; 10) when they said insulting words, above all against Marisa, who was described as: "Crazy, heretic, blasphemer, possessed, idolatress" and also much worse; the ecclesiastical authority many times transgressed canon 220 of Canon Law.
I always bent my head and always obeyed, even if I disagreed, as I personally told Cardinal Ruini. Jesus and Our Lady many times affirmed: "Your priest was always obedient to God and to the Church", so I didn't disobey the Church, but the great men of the Church didn't obey God, because they opposed his Divine Will, his projects, his Eucharistic miracles.
When a man, whatever is the office he holds in the ecclesiastical hierarchy, consciously opposes God, he takes upon himself a very serious responsibility which can endanger the salvation of his soul.
The sentence which made the whole of Paradise horrified was: "I shall revenge and I shall crush him".
He who said it, and we know who he is, showed hate, resentment, scorn and revenge inside his heart. He is guilty of a serious sin before God and those who heard that sentence pronounced and were silent for convenience or for fear, they became responsible of the same sin: the Holy Scripture teaches this.
For these reasons, but above all for the most serious one, about which for the moment we can't speak, the Lord Jesus ordered me to stop for the time being any relationship and dialog with the ecclesiastical authority, until they take away the decrees promulgated against us, which were declared "null and void" by God and till they have given their apologies, in writing, to me, to Marisa and to the members of the Movimento for the serious and heavy accusations, slanders and defamations that they moved many times against us and which were sometimes referred to on several occasions by press and television.
I, Marisa, my young people and my grown-ups, with love towards the superiors put into practice brotherly correction, taught by the Gospel (Mt. 18,15-17).
Jesus many times repeated in his messages that brotherly correction should be practiced towards everybody, also towards priests, bishops and cardinals; we just did this but it wasn't accepted, on the contrary it had the opposite effect and produced new sufferings.
Make a serious and honest examination of your conscience, don't fear men, but fear God Who will judge you and, if it is necessary for the triumph of truth, even resign your office and defend truth with courage, because truth "Makes you free". (St. John 8,32)
This was dictated by love and by care for your souls, even if it could appear in some parts to be hard, strong and sharp; you should read it with humility and with attention.
The following words of Jesus are hammered in my mind and in my heart, as burning darts: "For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?".(Mt. 16,26)
For one moment divest yourselves of your offices, set yourselves free from your power, kneel down before the Eucharist, also before the Eucharist brought here by Jesus, Which poured His Blood and ask yourselves: "Who am I before You, my God?".
Listen to your heart, open to the understanding of God's plans and abandon yourselves to Him, like sons in the arms of the Father.
If I directly address you, it's only to obey Jesus' order, to put into practice the brotherly correction in your regards and to give you a tangible proof of true love.
Remember these meaningful St. Augustin's words: "Timeo Dominum transeuntem et non plus revertentem". I know that we have yet much to suffer before the triumph of the Eucharist, the triumph of truth and before our triumph; Jesus and Our Lady announced that all this will begin to happen in 1999.
By this time, a short wait, only a little time is left before God intervenes; this is still a time of mercy, then will begin time of justice and I wouldn't like to be among those who fought Jesus the Eucharist Who poured His Blood and Who was brought into the thaumaturgical place.
Recently the Mother of the Eucharist many times announced that "When God the Father decides, I will fly among you and all of you will see Me in this thaumaturgical place and not elsewhere. All of you will see my body. God will give this gift to you, who always have been present, who faced difficult and painful situations, caused by those people who don't believe in the Eucharistic miracles which happened in the thaumaturgical place. Remember: first your priest will see Me, than it will be your turn".
Both Marisa and I have known for several years that Our Lady would appear for everybody in the thaumaturgical place, but we had to be silent due to God's order and we had to keep this secret.
We hope that the Mother of the Eucharist will be seen not only by the "Early workmen" but also by those of the "Latest time"; that is. by those who at first fought against the Eucharistic miracles which happened in the thaumaturgical place and then who converted their hearts and believed them.
I write you this new letter to invite you to assume your own responsibilities and to make your choice with courage and honesty, so that one day and it is really very near, when all that I have announced to you in my first and second letter happens, none of you shall say: "I didn't know anything".
We are now living the hardest, most suffered and fought against time of our life and we are following Mary's example, Who, as She said, after Jesus' death had inside her heart both suffering and joy: suffering because her Son was dead and joy because She was waiting for his resurrection, with firm faith.
It's better experiencing now some sufferings for Christ than being separated from Him for all eternity.
The following words of St. Paul bring us great confortation: "Nothing therefore can come between us and the love of Christ, even if we are troubled or worried, or being persecuted, or lacking food or clothes, or being threatened or even attacked. As scripture promised: 'For your sake we are being massacred daily, and reckoned as sheep for the slaughter'. These are the trials through which we triumph, by the power of him who loved us. For I am certain of this: neither death nor life, no angel, no prince, nothing that exists, nothing still to come, not any power or height or depth, nor any created thing, can ever come between us and the love of God made visible in Christ Jesus our Lord". (St. Paul, Rm. 8,35-39)

Dearest Father and Brother in Christ,
I address you with respect and love, to invite you to read this letter carefully: its content is so important that history will speak about it, as the Lord has said so. The Blessed Virgin Mary for many years has been appearing as "Mother of the Eucharist" to the visionary Marisa Rossi in Rome.
In the book entitled "Monumenta Eucharistica" written by Gerardo Di Nola and published by Ed. Dehoniane, Rome, a book that I suggest you read, it is written: "Mary, Mother of Christ's Body is also Mother of the Eucharist. Mary, just like the Church, gives the Christians the Eucharistic Christ for their spiritual nourishment. It's enough to think about that extraordinary bard of the Virgin Mary, St. Efrem Siro who, understanding the intimate relationship between Mary - Eve - Eucharist - Church, shouts in his Hymns: The Church gave us the living bread, instead of the unleavened bread which the Egypt had given. Mary gave us the bread of life, instead of the bread of exhaustion which Eve gave us".
The title "Mother of the Eucharist", even if it hasn't that complete and deep theological meaning which Our Lady Herself has revealed in her messages, has been present in the Church, at least since the 14th Century, when Gersone, a famous theologian and French mystic, dedicates a whole section of his "Tractatus super Magnificat" to the relation between the sacrament of Corpus Christi and the Virgin, defined as "Mother of the Eucharist".
Pope Pius XII instituted the liturgical feast of "The Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament", which is celebrated on 13th May.
The 12th International Congress of Mary, (18th-24th August 1996) and the 19th Marian International Congress (24th-26th August, 1996) celebrated in Czestochova, set this subject: Mary and the Eucharist. Pope John Paul II, speaking to believers, on 5th June 1983, taught that: "At the root of the Eucharist is the virginal and maternal life of Mary. The Body that we eat and the Blood that we drink still has in itself, as fragrant Bread, the taste and aroma of the Virgin Mother".
Well, why are many priests offering strong opposition towards the title "Mother of the Eucharist", which then they fiercely discharge upon me and Marisa?
Jesus said: "The Immaculate Conception opens history and the Mother of the Eucharist closes history". If it is true, as Pope John Paul II teaches, that: "In that one Sacrifice, Mary had an active part. She stood near the Crucified, with a motherly heart she associated herself with his Sacrifice and offered him to the Father" (5th June 1983), it is also true that the Heavenly Bread is given to us through the "YES" of Mary. Jesus together with the Mother of the Eucharist, gives the Eucharist to man, therefore our gratitude must be expressed to the Son and to his Mother.
Even though the conciliar decree "Presbiterium ordinis" teaches: "In the Holy Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, that is Christ Himself, our Easter and Living Bread Who, through his flesh which is vivified and vivifying in the Holy Spirit, gives life to man. The Eucharist appears as spring and culmination of the whole evangelization. The Eucharistic Synapsis therefore is the centre of the Community of the Christians, presided over by a priest". Our Community, just as Our Lady said on 6th December 1994, "has been deprived of the Eucharist, for no reason". On this occasion I bent my head and I said to Cardinal Ruini: "I obey, even if with death in my heart".
The Mother of the Eucharist explained: "They hit the shepherd to scatter the sheep. Your shepherd was always obedient to the Church. They hit him because these are the most important apparitions, the most fought against, suffered and most difficult apparitions in the whole history of the Church".
She also announced as a prophet: "Battles will continue and they will be fought with strength by great and little men, against these two my children".
This prophecy was punctually fulfilled when the great Eucharistic miracles, which had been announced much ahead of their times, began to take place and to repeat themselves.
Inside our chapel, which is deprived of the Eucharist, Jesus, Our Lady, the Angels and the Saints, bring the Eucharist Which is put directly in the tabernacle or on the altar. On the previous evening there is nothing, but on the following morning those who come into the chapel realize that the Eucharist is present in the tabernacle or on the altar. It should be noted that only I have the keys of the chapel and of the tabernacle and I keep them with a loving care.
Who can prevent Jesus, First, Highest, and Eternal Priest from taking the Eucharist away from tabernacles of those churches where He is not loved and bringing It into the thaumaturgical place?
Who can prevent the Mother of the Eucharist from taking the Eucharist away from profanation and black masses and bringing It into the thaumaturgical place?
Who can prevent the Angels and the Saints from putting the Eucharist in the thaumaturgical place, obeying God's orders?
The Eucharistic miracles also happened in some particular ways:
(1) Six times some Hosts were brought and blood came out of them. The last blood-stained Host, was put by Our Lady in a ciborium, on 22nd March 1998. We keep carefully this Host and we can state that neither the blood nor the Host are showing any sign of decomposition, on the contrary the Host issues a particular scent.
(2) Several times some Hosts were brought and from them serum came out. St. John saw blood and water gush from the wounded chest of the Crucified (St. John 19, 34).
(3) On 29th June 1997, many people saw a Host coming out of the chest of Jesus on a Crucifix: first It flew inside a box of glass which protected this Crucifix, then It passed through the glass without breaking it.
This miracle repeated itself several times.
The Fathers of the Church and the Councils taught that from Christ's chest on the Cross, the Eucharist, the other Sacraments and the Church came out.
(4) Seven times I myself, since the Eucharist, which had been brought, wasn't enough to be given in communion to all the people present, saw the fragments of the Hosts multiply in my hands. Can we give Communion to more than 160 people, with 10 Hosts only? Many people can bear witness to the "multiplication of the Eucharist".
(5) The Hosts brought by Jesus and Our Lady issue a particular scent which is clearly perceived by people who receive them in communion and which sometimes also persists after the consumption of the Host. (6) According to God's order, we are keeping a large Host which was given to Marisa on 18th February 1996. This Host underwent no structural modification and kept its shape and size unchanged. Therefore from the chemical point of view, it is not explainable how this Host, after so much time, remains integral and unchanged and how It didn't lose any of its own chemical-physical properties.
(7) On 1st January 1998, in the presence of several witnesses, one Host, put by Our Lady on a painting of the Mother of the Eucharist, came off and flew onto the hands of Marisa Rossi. From this Host two other Hosts came out: the theological meaning of this extraordinary event is clear and those present can bear witness of this event.
Up to now more than one hundred Eucharistic miracles occurred and the number of Hosts which were brought changed every time. The Ecclesiastical Authority of Rome and the members of the commission instituted to examine the Eucharistic miracles, without having asked Marisa, the witnesses and myself, without having viewed the photographic and TV material, which is at our disposal, dismissed the miracles which have been defined by Jesus: "The greatest Eucharistic miracles in the history of the Church" and they defined them with these offending words: "Cases of religious pathology, cases of fairground tricks, jokes of mountebanks, effects of manipulation and tricks, effects of satanic intervention".
Several times, uselessly, we asked for the presence of exorcists, of experts and of members of the commission, so that they could exclude the human and satanic intervention, and could check the divine intervention, but we always met with a flat refusal.
Finally, Cardinal Ruini, General Vicar of the Pope, confronted me with this dilemma: either refuse adoration of the Eucharist brought by Jesus and by Our Lady, or be suspended from the exercise of sacred functions (a divinis).
I repeated together with St. John: "I saw and I believed" (St. John 20, 8) therefore, since I couldn't rape my conscience and put myself against God, I accepted suspension.
Cardinal Ruini said that the suspension will be removed, only if I acknowledge that I led the believers into error and if I guarantee that I will adore no more and I will let no more adore the Eucharist brought miraculously by God and the Mother of the Eucharist.
If I committed so great sin because I adored the Eucharist brought by Jesus and Our Lady, so that I was suspended, then Pope John Paul II committed the same sin, because on 7th December 1997, he adored the Eucharist, which Our Lady had put on a painting of the Mother of the Eucharist, brought into St. Peter's square by me and by Marisa together with two hundred people.
Our Lady, appearing to Marisa in St. Peter's square after the Pope's Angelus, said: "I, as Mother of the Eucharist, today made my entry here and it will continue. I indicated to the Pope where the Eucharist was and he adored It".
I don't know if Cardinal Ruini told the Pope about the Eucharistic miracles that are happening in his diocese and about the severe measure taken against me, having suspended me from the exercise of sacred functions.
Certainly the Pope knows, through human ways and "per aliam viam (through other ways)" what is happening in the thaumaturgical place: for myself and Marisa it was really a surprise and a joy when the Pope, during a public audience in the Paul VI hall, on 3rd November 1993, greeted us this way: "You are those of Our Lady".
Jesus said that the fight against the Eucharist has begun and that God's children should defend It, at any cost. I and Marisa, we aren't fighting our own battle, we don't look for revenge, we don't pursue personal ambitions and we can say peacefully: "We are merely servants. We have done no more than our duty" (St. Luke 17, 10).
For us it's a virtue to suffer for Jesus the Eucharist and we can repeat together with St. Paul: "We are in difficulties on all sides, but never cornered; we see no answer to our problems, but never despair; we have been persecuted, but never deserted; knocked down, but never killed" (2 Cor. 4,8).
The Mother of the Eucharist promised: "Together with the triumph of the Eucharist and of truth, there will be your triumph too". She also indicated the year when this will happen: 1999.
With firm faith we are waiting for God's intervention and, waiting for it, we have patience and serenity.
The Mother of the Eucharist also announced in her messages, that:
(1) The Church will experience a splitting and the Eucharist, sacrament of union, will become cause of division. On the one hand will side the men of the Church who believe in the Eucharist, who love Our Lady and are united and obedient to the Pope, who today is called John Paul II, on the other will side the men of the Church who don't believe in the Eucharist, who don't love Our Lady and aren't united and obedient to the Pope.
(2) When hard and difficult times arrive and they are very close, it will be too late for those people who fought against the Eucharist, to convert their heart. Now it's a time of mercy, then it will be the time of justice.
(3) Together with the triumph of the Eucharist, will come the triumph of truth and the enemies of the Eucharist "will be removed from their thrones".
(4) The triumph of the Eucharist, which has begun in the thaumaturgical place (Via delle Benedettine) in Rome, will spread all over the world and the face of the Church will shine again without any stain or shadow.
(5) The Eucharistic miracles which happened in Rome in the thaumaturgical place, will reunite all races and with all religions they will make only one religion, holy, catholic, apostolic, roman.
(6) The permission for celebrating the Holy Mass and of keeping the Eucharist inside our chapel will certainly be restored by the competent ecclesiastical authority, united with the Pope.
(7) The Blessed Virgin will be invoked in the whole Church, with the title "Mother of the Eucharist" and a liturgical feast in her honour will be instituted.
(8) The apparitions of the Mother of the Eucharist, the Eucharistic miracles and the theophanies of the Trinity, which have taken place in the thaumaturgical place, will be acknowledged by the Church. The messages of the Mother of the Eucharist will be read by the whole Church and will be translated into all languages.
(9) In Rome, a great church, consecrated to the Mother of the Eucharist, will rise. Popes, Cardinals, Bishops, priests, sisters and laymen will come to pray in this church and in the thaumaturgical place.
(10) History will speak about what happened in Rome, in the thaumaturgical place.
Dear Father and Brother in Christ, I write to you greatly ahead of the time when all will come true that Jesus and the Mother of the Eucharist have announced and I invite you to keep this letter to check if what it says is absolutely true.
According to God's will, Pope John Paul II has a great mission. Jesus said: "Pray, so that the Pope has the strength and courage to do God's will and to perform the great mission which was entrusted to him".
John Paul II concluded his apostolic exhortation "Tertio Millennio Adveniente" announcing that year 2000 will be "an intensely Eucharistic year and in Rome the International Eucharistic Congress will take place". I must observe with great bitterness, that people speak little about this great announcement of the Pope, but I must add that Our Lady said: "The whole third Millennium will be intensely Eucharistic".
The triumph of the Eucharist, prepared by the Mother of the Eucharist, according to God's will, will begin from Rome and exactly from the thaumaturgical place (Via delle Benedettine, 91-93) where the great Eucharistic miracles happened and it will spread through the whole Church and all over the world.
I just ask your prayers for myself and Marisa, to continue to have the strength to abandon ourselves to God.
If you can, at least send us a greeting, a wish, an encouragement as a sign of solidarity with us.
I invoke upon you, beloved Father and Brother in Christ, God's blessing and the protection of the Mother of the Eucharist.

Letter sent by Marisa Rossi to the parish-priests of Rome on 17th January 1999
My dear brother priest,
I am Marisa Rossi and my name, without any doubt, isn't unknown to you. I always have kept silent, praying and suffering, but now I dare to send this letter to the priests because I want to defend my spiritual director, Father Claudio Gatti who, for about twenty eight years, has been pelt by everybody, especially by priests and I also mean bishops and cardinals. I was taught that slandering and defaming seriously somebody is always a mortal sin, just as the "Catechism of the Catholic Church" teaches.
The hardest and most suffered period began with the apparitions.
On 20th June 1993, Our Lady told me that it is God's will that the apparitions became to be public and Father Claudio reports it to Mons. Cesare Nosiglia. So the bishop was the first person who received from Father Claudio the messages of Our Lady: Father Claudio also explained to the bishop how he would have liked to do the catechesis to the people who would have been present at the apparitions. Father Claudio didn't receive any prohibition and the public apparitions began on 24th october 1993.
Unfortunately, on 6th December 1994, cardinal Camillo Ruini, by means of a decree, forbade the celebration of the Holy Mass in our chapel and let the Eucharist be taken away.
Father Claudio's answer was: "With the death in my heart, I obey". In fact, there was no reason for taking away the Holy Mass, because it was already celebrated before the apparitions began, on the basis of permissions granted by the previous cardinal vicar, Ugo Poletti. Sure, those who have power in their hand can do whatever they want, I understood this on my cost and they can also act against the Gospel and the Canon Law.
Notwithstanding repeated requests of Father Claudio to be able to celebrate the Holy Mass again in our chapel, we always received a flat denial from cardinal Ruini.
For three years and a half we have been deprived of the Holy Mass and you can imagine my sorrow, since I live of the Eucharist, Which is also my physical support as well as a spiritual one. You can also imagine Father Claudio's sorrow, who would have had an infarct, if the Lord hadn't intervened. Our priest was obliged to celebrate alone the Holy Mass in other churches and bring the Holy Communion to us at home and to the sick people of our community.
I want to pass over all the vicissitudes and the sufferings which this decree caused to us and to the whole community, which was deprived of the most precious good that Jesus Christ gave us, so I arrive to 14th September 1995, the day of the first great Eucharistic miracle: at this date began the so much fought against "triumph of the Eucharist", which had been already announced by Jesus in the previous month of June. The miracles repeated frequently, as Our Lady had promised several times. Many people of the community were present at these miracles and they can bear witness, but the ecclesiastical authority didn't want to investigate about these people.
The only time that some members of the commission of enquiry came to examine me, I was treated worse than St. Bernadette and the three little shepherds of Fatima, without the minimum of charity, as the Holy Gospel and also the Canon Law teaches. I don't want to repeat those so bad words said by the members of the commission, which have upset me for about three months, as it springs from the certificate issued by the police doctor, which was sent to the Vicariate. The bishop Nosiglia then declared null and void that meeting of the commission, because they didn't take any minutes of it.
My dear brother priest, checks about the state of my mental health were carried out by the head physician for neurology and psychiatry of Policlinico: they shut out all the moved accusations, included the accusation of being afflicted with "religious pathology". These documents are also kept in the Vicariate. Slanders and defamations increased: against the priest, me, our young people and the people who come and pray to the place made thaumaturgical by God.
On 8th march 1998, the day of the 35th anniversary of Father Claudio's priesthood, the priest received the order by God of celebrating the Holy Mass and he informed the Vicariate which threatened the suspension from the exercise of sacred functions (a divinis). The priest, divided by obedience to God and respect for the ecclesiastical authority, kept in mind Jesus' words of the message of 1st February 1998: "Obedience yes, blackmail no!".
Obedience to the Pope and to the bishops who are united with the Pope is indispensable, but it must be given when love is united with obedience: this is not the case when there is wish of revenge or the request for denying all that somebody believes, included the Eucharist. Therefore the decision of trusting in God can't be considered as a disobedience to the authority or as a rebellion, but as an act of love towards God, the Church, the Mother of the Eucharist; this is the meaning of St. Peter's words: "It's necessary to obey God, rather than man".
Sure, I am not a person with great learning, but I wonder: "How can people obey the ecclesiastical authority when this doesn't respect either persons or God's will and God's deeds?". Some priests stated that Father Claudio anyway should have obeyed the superiors, because it wasn't his responsibility, but of those people who ordered him to be disrespectful to the Eucharist.
Father Claudio taught me always to obey the superiors, on condition that their orders aren't against the Gospel and the Canon Law. In addition, why don't those people obey the Pope when he says that the apparitions are a God's gift?
In spite of all this, Father Claudio tried again to cooperate with the ecclesiastical authority, so on 1st april 1998 he brought to Mons. Cesare Nosiglia at the Vicariate, a big Host Which, on 22nd march 1998, had poured blood. When Father Claudio opened the reliquary, the Eucharist emitted a heavenly scent and my spiritual director knelt down, instead the bishop made a gesture of irritation and pronounced offensive words: "What's that piece of bread?". He even refused to keep the Host to let it be examined.
These miracles of the Eucharist Who poured blood happen just to let us understand that Jesus is really present in the Eucharist, with his Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity: the last miracle happened on 17th May 1998. The Eucharist, brought by Jesus, was put on some flowers, It changed its shape and shut Itself up just like a shell, almost to keep the precious blood of Jesus, which spread over the whole Host little by little. My dear brother priest, those people also forbade us to worship and told us to throw the Hosts into the water, to let them be melted, because in the authority's opinion that either they are tricks of the booths of the fair or they were brought by the devil. We also requested the intervention of an exorcist, but also this was refused by the Vicariate.
My dear brother priest, I was taught that to pass judgements on persons and on events, it isn't only necessary to listen to those who have power in their hands, but also a simple priest, who is involved in the same events.
Now I ask you, my dear brother, to pray for the situation of the Church which is led by men who are doing everything to destroy a poor priest, who all alone is trying to carry on the great mission which God entrusted to him. He is a simple priest, who hasn't power, who has no authority, but who has God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, the Mother of the Eucharist, St. Joseph, all the Angels and the Saints who always escort him in his life, in his choices and in his responsibilities.
It is my hope that you also will escort him at least through your prayers.
Bless me and pray for the great mission which God entrusted to our weak shoulders.

The witnessing of the Abbe' Rene' Laurentin


The ABBE' RENE' LAURENTIN, probably the most famous learned man about Our Lady' s apparitions, came to Rome in December 1993. He visited Marisa Rossi and Don Claudio Gatti, he assisted to an apparition and had an interview with these two protagonists. He reported also this experience on the magazine "Stella Maris" by means of an article published on the 292/2 (February 1994) issue. Below is the text of that article translated into English from French.

THE SECRET ROME OF MYSTICS AND VISIONARIES
A precocious visionary

On the 5th of December (1993) I have visited Marisa Rossi. She lives by a little community founded by the priest Don Claudio Gatti (Via delle Benedettine 91, 00135 Rome). She has an apparition on this Sunday which is preceded, as usual, by a PRUDENT CATECHESIS by Don Claudio Gatti and is followed by a celebration of a FERVENT MASS. There are lots of young people. Songs are perfectly prepared and Marisa is a soloist and her voice is harmonious. The community says the prayers in the chapel placed in the basement of the small residence of the "Movement for the Commitment and Witnessing". Marisa looks as an ORDINARY WOMAN OF THE PEOPLE, SHE IS SIMPLE AND LOVABLE. In the moment of the apparition she prays in the centre of the chapel and just like the visionaries of Medjugorje, she kneels down when she sees Our Lady. The ecstasy doesn't separate her form outside the world. At the beginning, when the assembly prays WITH OUR LADY, She says to Marisa that the rhythm of the pray is too much rapid. The visionary repeats it and so people slacken speed. Marisa talks with Our Lady in a loud voice. The conversation is recorded just like in Kibeho (Ruanda, Africa). THE ATTITUDE OF THE VISIONARY IS SIMPLE AND WITHOUT PARTICULARITY. HER EYES AND HER FACE EXPRESS HER FEELING. The apparition lasts about five minutes.
I have asked Don Claudio Gatti: "Ever since is Marisa seeing Our Lady?". He replied: "The apparitions happened in three periods i.e.:
1) From 1971 to 1985 they were strictly private;
2) From 1986 to 4th September 1993 they only were open to the participation of a few people praying;
3) From 4th September 1993 in consequence of that day' s Our Lady' s message, they became public".
"What are the messages about?" I have asked and Don Claudio Gatti replied: "Our Lady says that She is the Mother of the Eucharist, that is the Mother of Christ Who is integrally present in the Sacrament and just this means the statue which is placed in the chapel, because Our Lady keeps the Holy Host and the chalice".
The sculptor of this statue pointed out that She doesn't keep fingers just like a priest giving the Holy Communion. The Host is between the middle and the annular fingers and is turned three fourths to Her. This way avoids the risk of suggesting an image of "Our Lady-Priest" which, since 1913, has been forbidden by the Holy Office.
Our Lady (Don Claudio Gatti is saying) remembers to the Church: "Too many theologians have subtilised about the real Presence and they have reduced the Eucharist to a symbol. The Eucharist is a sacrament which is symbol and reality: symbol-reality, total gift, which asks for adoration and thanksgiving".
THE MESSAGE OF PRAYING, CONVERSION AND FAST COINCIDES WITH THE MEDJUGORJE' S MESSAGES. I have asked: "In 1971 Marisa was more than twenty years old. What happened before?". Don Claudio Gatti had an hesitation but he replied: "In 1971 I have become to be the spiritual director of Marisa". Question: "But before, had some apparitions already taken place?". Answer: "Yes" SAID MARISA "I have been seeing Our Lady since I was two and a half years old". Answer: "Two and a half years, it is a very big memory! Personally I haven' t reminiscences of visionaries before three years old. And beginning from that moment did Our Lady clarify who She was?". Marisa' s reply: "No, She appeared to me almost every day as an ordinary person and She helped me, She advised and comforted me. My family didn't know what to think of me and they were saying: is she a stupid or a saint?".
Marisa' s father was a hard man and I have realized that she needed assistance and comfort, but she pays attention not to speak ill of her father. I only can imagine the concealed drama.
"Step by step" Marisa says "I realized that She was Our Lady and She has confirmed it to me by means of the messages. I had offered my life for a young man who in that time was preparing himself for the priesthood. On 9th March 1963 I was present in a mystic way during his ordination. He was living in Marche (Italian region). Some time after, the Divine Providence let me meet him. In that place there were a lot of priests and when I was in front of the first priest I met, I thought: it is him! But Our Lady explained to me that he was an other one who really was Don Gatti, who become my spiritual director since 1971".
Don Gatti added: "In front of these extraordinary events, I had much hesitation, I reflected very much and I sought the advice of other priests. Then I also considered that fruits were good. So, step by step, I have constituted this little community and it is my very commitment to give a Christian forming to her".
Mr Paolo Lunetti, the husband of Marija, the visionary of Medjugorje, for some time went to this community, but he wasn't able to become integrated. He only thought about Medjugorje and his next bride".
Question: "And how was constituted this group of pray with such a lot of young men?". Don Gatti replied: "Many of them come here from afar. Then if they get married, they have before serious engagements and that' s very rare today".

At the root of the Eucharist is the virginal and maternal life of Mary
 
On Sunday 5 June 1983, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Holy Father John Paul II offered the following reflections to the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square for the weekly recitation of the Angelus.
" Ave verum Corpus natum de Maria Virgine!"
" Hail, true Body born of the Virgin Mary! "
On the feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, our grateful thanks is raised to the Father, Who has given us the Divine Word, the living Bread come down from heaven, and our thanks is joyfully raised to the Virgin, Who offered the Lord his innocent Flesh and precious Blood which we receive at the altar. "Ave verum Corpus": true Body, truly conceived through the work of the Holy Spirit, borne in the womb with ineffable love (Preface II of Advent), born for us of the Virgin Mary: "Natum de Maria Virgine".
That divine Body and Blood, which after the consecration is present on the altar, is offered to the Father, and becomes Communion of love for everyone, by consolidating us in the unity of the Spirit in order to found the Church, preserves its maternal origin from Mary. She prepared the Body and Blood before offering them to the Word as a gift from the whole human family that he might be clothed in them in becoming our Redeemer, High Priest and Victim.
At the root of the Eucharist, therefore, there is the virginal and maternal life of Mary, her overflowing experience of God, her journey of faith and love, which through the work of the Holy Spirit made her flesh a temple and her heart an altar: because she conceived not according to nature, but through faith, with a free and a conscious act: an act of obedience. And if the Body that we eat and the Blood that we drink is the inestimable gift of the Risen Lord to us travellers, it still has in itself, as fragrant Bread, the taste and aroma of the Virgin Mother.
"Vere passum, immolatum in Cruce pro homine". That Body truly suffered and was immolated on the Cross for man.
Born of the Virgin to be a pure, holy and immaculate oblation. Christ offered on the Cross the one perfect Sacrifice which every Mass in an unbloody manner, renews and makes present. In that one Sacrifice, Mary, the first redeemed, the Mother of the Church, had and active part. She stood near the Crucified, suffering deeply with her Firstborn; with a motherly heart she associated herself with his Sacrifice; with love she consented to his immolation (cf. "Lumen Gentium", 58; "Marialis Cultus", 20): she offered him and she offered herself to the Father. Every Eucharist is a memorial of that Sacrifice and that Passover that restored life to the world; every Mass puts us in intimate communion with her, the Mother, whose sacrifice "becomes present" just as the Sacrifice of her Son "becomes present" at the words of consecration of the bread and wine pronounced by the priest (cf. Discourse at the Celebration of the Word, 2 June 1983, n° 2).
